The Illinois Central Jazz Train is the newest performing group-in-residence at Illinois Central College. It was formed in August of 2004 and includes some of the finest young and seasoned jazz musicians in Central Illinois. In its short existence, the band has played with David Baker, was part of the CEFCU Summer Jazz Series and recently had a successful Holiday celebration concert at the Apollo Theatre. John Larson (drums), his son Adam (tenor saxophone), Harlan Geiser (lead trombone) and Dale Rideout (lead trumpet) are part of the Bloomington-Normal contingency in the band. Other musicians representing the Peoria area are David Hoffman (trumpet), Toby Thomas (lead alto sax) and Jason Shea (bass trombone). You'll want to be sure to catch this great group.
