Directed by Tom Marko, Jazz Ensemble I is the premier jazz big band at Illinois State University and is made up of a select group of the university's finest instrumentalists. This outstanding ensemble performs a wide range of big band literature, including all styles from historical to cutting edge. It's members include some of the finest collegiate jazz soloists in Illinois. Their program will include several classic Duke Ellington pieces and other compositions in a wide variety of styles from composers, such as Tom Kubis, Thad Jones, Dan Gailey, Bobby Watson and more.
