The Central Illinois Jazz Society presents
Sally Weisenburg & the Famous Sidemen
6:00 & 8:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 15, 2002
Jumer's Castle Lodge (in the Mozart Room), Peoria

Now in their 10th year, Sally Weisenburg & the Famous Sidemen continue to play from a menu steeped in the tradition of jump blues. Four fine musicians support and interact with this great natural singer. Those of you who have watched Sally over the years will realize how important a musician Sally is. She has grown as a musician since she came to Central Illinois twenty some years ago. Along with her God-given talent as a singer, Sally has developed a great complimentary keyboard style that has become an integral and essential part of the band's sound.

Backed by husband/guitarist Don Berbaum, John Miller on upright bass, drummer Tony Corpus, and saxophonist Pete Hannen, the band plays clubs, festivals and private events throughout the Midwest. And although jump blues, a style that developed in transition from big bands to smaller combos in the '40s and '50s, is what the band is most well known for, they are very comfortable taking off on side trips into jazz, soul, standards and straight ahead urban blues as well. You'll be sure to have fun when you hear Sally Weisenburg & the Famous Sidemen at Jumers.

The Central Illinois Jazz Society House Band, featuring outstanding jazz musicians from the area, will entertain you with a mixture of jazz styles. This talented and versatile group, led by Larry Harms, is the heart of our monthly jazz program for the jazz fans of Central Illinois. We are grateful to the House Band for their variety of live jazz offerings. Come out and support them - you'll enjoy it.
