The Manny Lopez Quartet will appear for the first time as the guest group at one of our programs, even though Manny has been a guest with the CIJS House Band several times. Manny Lopez leads the group on trumpet and flugelhorn. He is joined by Tewanta Yerington on keyboards and vocals, Ron Wilson on bass, and Manuel Lopez III on drums and vocals.

The Quartet will present jazz styles ranging from Bix to Miles Davis. Their songs will include mainstream jazz, Latin jazz, standards, and ballads. They have played together for many years in a variety of venues, including the Smithsonian Institution "River of Song", presented by PBS in 1998. In addition, Manny has a 17-piece big band that has performed with Clark Terry and Louis Bellson at the Quad City Jazz Festival. You'll be sure to enjoy the jazz sounds of the Manny Lopez Quartet. The Central Illinois Jazz Society House Band, featuring outstanding jazz musicians from the area, will also entertain you with a mixture of jazz styles. This talented group is led by Larry Harms and is the heart of our monthly jazz offerings for the jazz fans of Central Illinois. We are grateful to them for their variety of live jazz offerings. Come out and support them.

The Central Illinois Jazz Society is a non-profit organization that is open to anyone who enjoys jazz. You do not have to be a musician to be a member or to attend our programs. The purpose of the organization is to further the appreciation of jazz among residents of Central Illinois.
