The Merchant Street Rowdies are the guest group for our March program. They are a six-member world-class band, specializing in the performance of traditional and updated Dixieland jazz music. Their combined talents and seasoned professionalism have made the group a unique source of musical entertainment in Illinois for over 18 years.
Bill Dethrow leads the Merchant Street Rowdies on clarinet. The Rowdies include Harlan Geiser on trombone and vocals, Tom Gleason on trumpet, John Sluzalis on drums, and Bill Schlipf on bass and vocals. Pianist Charlie Stokes also plays trombone and sings - sometimes playing the piano and trombone at the same time. The Merchant Street Rowdies are entertaining, enthusiastic, and energetic. You'll enjoy them.
The Central Illinois Jazz Society House Band, featuring outstanding jazz musicians from the area, will entertain you with a mixture of jazz styles. This talented group is led by Larry Harms and is the heart of our monthly jazz programs for the jazz fans of Central Illinois. We are grateful to them for their variety of live jazz offerings. Come out and support them.
