The Central Illinois Jazz Society

The Central Illinois Jazz Society is a non-profit organization that is open to anyone who enjoys jazz. You do NOT have to be a musician to be a member.

The purpose of the organization is to further the appreciation and quality of jazz in Central Illinois. We do this by providing opportunities for jazz artists to play and for jazz lovers to enjoy their favorite music.

The Central Illinois Jazz Society was chartered in September, 1978. The Society has sponsored several famous jazz artists, including Louie Bellson, Clark Terry, Bobby Shew, Slide Hampton, Phil Wilson and Nicholas Payton.

The Society encourages the younger generation to develop an interest in jazz. We have featured many college jazz bands and high school jazz bands as guest groups at our monthly programs. High school and college students have further developed their jazz skills by sitting in with the Central Illinois Jazz Society House Band. The House Band features outstanding musicians from throughout Central Illinois.
